INTRODUCTION
|
|
What
is the YanCEyDesktop Reader for the PC (YwD)? |
|
|
YanCEyDesktop
Reader for the PC (also known as YwD) is a desktop reader
for Yanceyware eBooks. YanCEyDesktop is compatible with
YanCEyWare Reader for the Pocket PC (YwR) and shares eBooks, libraries, menus, annotations, markup and quickmarks with the PPC reader.
YwD supports printing,
copy/paste to other applications, multiple quickmark sets, image
viewing and all the annotation/markup features of the PPC
Reader.
If you are creating your own Yanceyware menus or
ebooks, you can test them on the PC before moving them to the
PocketPC. If it works on the PPC version it will work on the Desktop
version and vise-versa.
|
|
How is YwD different than the YanCEyWare Reader for PPC (YwR)? |
|
|
Although
functionally very similar, YwD takes advantage of the larger
screen area of the PC. If you use YwR, the functionality of YwD
will be very familiar.

Who makes these products? |
|
The eBook
format and the eBook Reader for Pocket PC (YwR) was created by
Bryce Yancey - thus "Yanceyware". Since then, a number of
related tools, utilities and eBooks have been created and are
the work of a number of different authors. All operate
under the "YanCEyWare" moniker to designate compatibility or
purpose, not organizational affiliation. The Yanceyware forums,
eBook lists, responses to support questions, help files, guides,
tool development, etc, are all done by an extended group of
volunteers (and Bryce).
YanCEyDesktop is
the most recent addition - it was written by Darren Remington.

Where can I
download YanCEyDesktop? |
|
|
See
http://www.yanceydesktop.com for
information about the current release and the download site.
YanCEyDesktop requires Microsoft .NET 2.0. |
|
What are
Yanceyware eBook files (.ybk)? |
|
|
eBooks are
specifically formatted files for use with the YwR and YwD
readers. eBook files have a .ybk extension. |
|
What is a Yanceyware
Library? |
|
|
The eBook readers
group .ybk files into a related collection of books called a
"Library". Often, books in a library have links to each
other and make more sense when used as a group (eg. the
scriptures). Library ebooks are located in a single folder
on your hard drive (or PPC storage card). Click
here to learn
more about how to create a Yanceyware library.
Menus (standard and
custom) can be created to make access to the books in a library
easy and quick. |
